No, it doesn't exist! But it is, apparently, the number of the main road that goes through Ambridge in The Archers. Since the world in which The Archers is set (Ambridge, Borchester, Borsetshire, Felpersham etc) is apparently in the south Midlands, this would place it out of zone. But what's our attitude to cataloguing fictional road numbers? It's not impossible that some folk might turn up on SABRE and look for them, so would we be doing a service by including them along with a description making clear their non-existence in real life?

As a matter of fact, the writers of The Archers tend to be a bit slapdash with road numbers, but perhaps this is deliberate, in order to obscure the "real" location of the places mentioned in the show. Nonetheless, actual places such as Birmingham do get mentioned from time to time ...

The BBC has several maps of the area with a whole host of numbers on them.

Borsetshire is a mess for road numbering - others nearby include A1992, B4879 and A9110.

We do have Fictional Road Numbers, but perhaps could do with some redirects in place to that page.

From the SABRE Wiki: Fictional Road Numbers :

Roads often feature in drama series, either in television, on radio or in books. Sometimes to add to the "authenticity" of the fiction, road numbers are used. Usually these numbers are dreamt up by the relevant author or production team, but occasionally the Department for Transport are aware of their usage and may suggest numbers to be used. Where the DfT are aware, those numbers are blacklisted from use for a period of time, usually three years.

Unless it’s somewhere where all the zones meet. :stir:

DMRB HD 19/03 (road safety audit guidance) gave us the delight of a Stage 2 report for the Ambridge Bypass, on the A795 including a junction with the A827...

Probably the only bit of the damn thing that has ever been entertaining, it was taken out when HD 19/03 became GG119 because everyone nowadays involved with it is a boring automaton it seems.
