The bypass is listed in the book British Roads: Devon - Past and Present (1993) as having opened in 1972. I expect this is Churchill Way on the eastern side of the town.
It's not shown on the OS one inch map of 1972. Looking for someone to check if it is on the OS First series :1:50000 map please.

Nope, it's not on the 1974 First Series A revision. It is on the Second Series A revision from 1983.Ross Spur wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 15:27 The bypass is listed in the book British Roads: Devon - Past and Present (1993) as having opened in 1972. Re: Northam Bypass, North Devon
I have a copy of the 1974 map (I assume that's Series A, at any rate it states "Revised for major roads and other significant changes 1972"). It is also missing the section of B3236 of about 400m length which runs north west from the junction with Bay View Road (at Northam Hall) to the junction with Lakerham Hill by the residential home.Steven wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 20:18Nope, it's not on the 1974 First Series A revision.
