Most Destinations on an R.C.S. (With Mileages)

Post by IAN »

As a starter, this one on the A627(M) has 5 but I'm sure it can easily be beaten.

[Might be worthwhile moving this across to Street Furniture]

Thank you for starting this thread and there will be plenty of examples where there are six destinations listed and probably some with more, maybe even as many as eight.

It's east of junction 6.

Am I the only one that finds the abbreviation M'cr for Manchester irritating? Likewise B'ham for Birmingham. They are not massively long place names to write in full.

No, as I also find this rather irritating.

Eight. But alas no more, the replacement is a mere six, with a few places edging slightly closer, and they're not bothering with brackets either

Edinburgh City Bypass off the A1 junction also used to have 8 (not including CITY BYPASS) but now has less https://maps.app.goo.gl/Bt2nfrCEr9qinU6S6

And now to one of the most rural spots in the country - 8 destinations on this sign.

All in Gaelic with no nod to the English (Rodel, Leverburgh, Northton, Luskentyre etc.).

A near contender (7), nearby, is this sign in North Harris:

This has almost every house along the road as a destination. 14 miles of the most breathtaking highway in Britain.

Between this and this there are 9, OK the first is not actually a RCS

In Northern Ireland, Co. Derry seems to specialise in these:

Six destinations on the A29 Coleraine Ring Road. Only Garvagh and Cookstown are actually on the A29.

Six destinations on the A6 east of Dungiven. Randalstown and Castledawson seem unnecessary. Larne isn't even on the A6 but also is signed from Derry city centre.

Five destinations on the A29 south of Garvagh. Swatragh is the next village en route but Tobermore seems unnecessary. At least all these are actually on the A29.

Doe this count as seven or as twelve? (OK, no distances are shown).

It fails by not being a RCS....

Again like your previous example this is not a RCS, it's an ADS.
