Spate of speed camera vandalisation in Cornwall

Post by techdan2002 »

In recent months Cornwall has seen a number of speed cameras vandalised.

The two average 30mph cameras at Perranarworthal on the A39 were the first to be felled overnight 4th/5th October but have since been reinstated: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-67017460

One of the pair of average 30mph cameras at Trewennack near Helston on the A394 was felled overnight 9th/10th November: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-67377966

The static 30mph camera at Longdowns on the A394 was felled overnight 16th/17th November: https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/20 ... rom-police

Most recently one of the 30mph cameras near Gunnislake on the A390 has had its wires cut overnight 1st/2nd December: https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornw ... ed-8949570

I in no way endorse these recent vandalisms, I am in support for speed limit enforcement through residential areas where pedestrians and other vulnerable road users are most at risk of passing traffic.

currently it it seems that camera vandalism is related to the freewibblery that has seen the ULEZ cameras damaged in that London

There's a lot of support for the "Cornish Bladerunners" on social media over this.

Same people who want to bring back hanging and flogging for everything else I'm sure.

It's Cornwall. More like smuggling and wrecking.

Of course, in Cornwall they want to do smuggling and then wrecking, but in Devon they do wrecking first and then spread the smuggling on top afterwards.
