Not seen the show yet, but you are very close to solving it with the sequence you outline and what else apart from roads would have that sequence with numbers as the extra clue.Rob590 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 17:35I don't see it. I'm trying something about yellow, green, brown, but I don't see a sequence or a connection to the numbers. There are two colours on a diversionary route sign, and I suppose primary routes could be three because the route numbers are in yellow, but there aren't four on tourist signs...the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 21:18 Brilliant Only Connect sequence

It could be a word one with nothing to do with roads, but if it is I don't see it either!

Didn't get it before watching but really should have done. It's a classic Only Connect theme!multiraider2 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 11:08Not seen the show yet, but you are very close to solving it with the sequence you outline and what else apart from roads would have that sequence with numbers as the extra clue.Rob590 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 17:35I don't see it. I read the colours in reverse alphabetical order and got the right answer for the wrong reason.Rob590 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 17:35I don't see it. I'm glad it worked, I've had that song in my head for hours since!
For those still not sure, the following lyric should give the biggest clue
Snooker loopy nuts are we
Me and him and them and me
We'll show you what we can do
With a load of balls and a snooker cue
Pot the reds then screw it back
For the yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black
Snooker loopy nuts are we
We're all snooker loopy
Built for comfort, not speed.

They had to stop at blue, didn't they? I can't think of any road signs that are coloured pink, though signs for trucks are black.

A "new road layout ahead" sign that's been UV-faded for 30 years?Chris Bertram wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 16:55 They had to stop at blue, didn't they? I can't think of any road signs that are coloured pink, though signs for trucks are black.

Ha ha, I've seen a few of those (also NEW TRAFFIC LIGHTS AHEAD), but they're not *officially* pink.rhyds wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 17:00A "new road layout ahead" sign that's been UV-faded for 30 years?Chris Bertram wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 16:55 They had to stop at blue, didn't they? They could have started with Danger (1). No there's nothing for 6, but perhaps None (6) could have been used?Chris Bertram wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 16:55 They had to stop at blue, didn't they? I can't think of any road signs that are coloured pink, though signs for trucks are black.
They could also have used Non-primary route for -4 with some weird sequence.

We've discussed their signs on this forum many times - I think the general consensus is that they induce nausea and vomiting.Steven wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 18:24You've clearly never been "IN Salford" then!Chris Bertram wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 16:55 They had to stop at blue, didn't they? Thankfully the one I used to walk past on the way to work has been removed.

Re: University Challenge Roads Questions
There was a question referring to the A6024 on Christmas University Challenge this evening. In the context of the rest of the question I don't think it was very difficult, but I won't post a spoiler.

Unusually one from !mpossible:
Motorway services on M1: three answers are right, three are wrong (ie are on a different motorway), three are impossible (ie are not motorway services). As this was a £10,000 question, you have ten seconds.
Tibshelf
Pease Pottage
Hilton Park
Newport Pagnell
Frankley
Gatcombe Park
Little Whinging
Framlingham
Woolley Edge

I like the idea of Gatcombe Park as an MSA.

You'll be the first to complain just how far it is from the M5.
