The motorway terminates at junction 7 at the northern end; it was planned to extend into London, with its terminus being on Ringway 2, the motorway replacement for the A205 South Circular Road. But not the A3 which goes well into Richmond but within 200 metres of this point it only one carriageway in each direction - a glaring example of a planning about-turn.
