I'll be surprised if they really can widen the northern half of the A1237, with multiple roundabout expansions and bridges over the river and railway, for only £65m.

Four and half miles, five intermediate roundabouts... no (major) bridges?CofYC wrote:City of York Council wants to widen the A1237 from the A19 to the A1036 Little Hopgrove roundabout at a cost of £65m.
The stretch from the A19 westward to the A59, and round to the A64... that's a different matter!

Re: Dualling the A1237
This section should originally have been built as a dual carriageway and the need for it to become just that is long overdue. Hopefully, today we will find out that it has been approved.
And also, any time now, we should find out whether Haxby railway station will also finally get the green light, again something that should have happened years ago. It will be some distance to the north of the main village, something which is causing some concern to Haxby residents. The new station will probably be of as much benefit to the people of Strensall given that the station will be located between the two so maybe this is why they chose the north-of-Haxby location. The new station will have 154 car parking spaces.
