Not an ordinary fingerpost as includes a pre-Worboys 'leads to' checker I haven't seen on a fingerpost before.

The famous (one of two) Narrow Lane sign. This raises the question, of course the chances of the road itself being called Narrow Lane so it becomes a road name not a stand alone sign is pretty unlikely, however had it not been called Narrow Lane it would be. Unless there is evidence of the same sign being used elsewhere it remains a council sign for me.
Of course once the word 'private' appears the nature is self-evident, another sign linked here also in Stratford-upon-Avon but not yet taken till now.

The font is slightly off although the age may be correct, the small print confirms it is private. A pair at each opening at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club. And yes I got a funny look from a member when I was taking it.

Here's a better view of the GLC sign in Clapton, it was made post-1965 but the GLC kept the style going for some years. There are two more variations in Southwark I must get next.

Sign at the entrance of Nuneaton Court car park, now for the Post Office which took it over. They painted over the lower part since it became obsolete but it's still quite legible. There's a pre-Worboys right turn sign behind it I've posted in that section.
Re: Council and private signs from pre-Worboys era
Oddly the LCC signs used their own designs pre-1967 which weren't compatible with national signs, but the GLC decided to use them afterwards. I don't make the rules.
Re: Council and private signs from pre-Worboys era
There is a blue Public Conveniences sign in Lockerbie town centre that is definitely pre Worboys, and still valid as the toilets are still in use. Also stuck in the wilds near the village of Ettrick and on an unclassified road that leads from the B709 to a forest is a 1950s sign with the word CATTLE, again valid as there is a cattle farm next to the road.

Those are actual pre-Worboys then rather than council made.
Re: Council and private signs from pre-Worboys era
I was there last year and unfortunately, the cattle signs are gone.

This is still here, just outside the Heath Hospital in Cardiff.

I have found so many versions of those, and another new type. That's a proper p-W sign, it doesn't matter where they're located.
