Drive-in massage relief for stressed motorists
The Guardian, 28 March 2006
Malaysia's first motorway drive-in massage parlour opened yesterday, with the aim of reducing accident numbers by easing the tense muscles of stressed-out drivers. Such parlours will be equipped with automatic massage chairs.
The works minister, Samy Vellu, opened the first one on the north-south highway that runs the length of peninsular Malaysia, and said the government was planning to open another in the middle of the year.
"I hope highway users will use this facility," he said, stressing "the importance of rest to avoid driving in a state of lethargy and tiredness".
