That's three major contractors that have been pushed / walked away from major schemes in the last few months...

Nothing's impossible. Build the Western Orbital. It doesn't need to be a super-duper fully-free-flow D6M.
The Western Strategic Route has been abandoned by Midlands Connect as well! It is informally extinct! It is also getting a lot of hate from silly Sabre users who've never been to the County of West Midlands.
