It wouldn't surprise me if the weather hasn't helped much. Also this job had some serious heavy lifting equipment involved, and I'd imagine the schedule upheaval across the industry made getting it to site more of a challenge than usual

Also, has the old bridge been planned to be used as a substitute if the new bridge requires maintenance (à la Forth Road Bridge)??

The connecting roads will still be in place even if there’s some traffic calming installed.

From what I understand the old bridge will remain in use for agricultural access and non-motorised users with removable bollards etc installed.

That said, given that even with extra low speeds and 3-way traffic control the old bridge parapet is currently being rebuilt for the second time this year due to a strike the new bridge is very, very unlikely to be the problem.

This isn't necessary. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of bridges on this scale that have bypassed older ones and they are not used by traffic any more. If the new bridge requires maintenance it is big enough to operate under temporary signals, and if that isn't possible then like in the old days you'll be diverted around.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8xn9vf ... =Griffiths

It was originally scheduled to be opened by now, the latest update is that it will open this autumn.

The video also shows that the refurbishment of the fuel station by the railway bridge is now nearly complete, the locals will be pleased when they no longer have to make a lengthy detour.
After 2 months without an update, Griffiths has uploaded a flythrough dated 'August 2023' on the day after uploading the July one. I thought it was the same video at first but there is some evidence of further work - spot the difference! (such as a new portable toilet by the bridge in the August update!).

I had a talk with a couple of folks on Griffiths' stand at the Eisteddfod in Boduan a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the expected completion date for the works is "The New Year"...

Drove past yesterday and nothing looked any different from when I was last in the area 2 weeks ago ( apart from the temporary lights being removed). Are the contractors all off on summer holiday! At least the fuel station has reopened.

Thank you. Drove past this scheme yesterday, still plenty of surfacing to do as your video shows - will open in early 2024?

They've still left this sign on display https://www.google.com/maps/@52.6007135 ... ?entry=ttu so, in theory, it should have opened on 17th June 2023!

Thanks for sharing the videos. Its fun seeing the scheme progress from a view that isn't my own windscreen, and I can play "spot the friends and family driving past" game!

From the looks of things the opening of the new bridge is going to be in early 2024. Griffiths and the Trunk Roads agency are currently consulting with the local residents about closing the A493 at the north end of the existing bridge for drainage works. This is a pretty significant closure as the diversion for those on the wrong side of the closed part of the A493 is about 30 miles via Tywyn, Abergynolwyn and Minffordd.

Griffiths' Flythrough from November 2023. I'm not a road laying expert - Is that red layer sand or gravel?

Griffiths' flythrough for December. The viaduct looks very different from November and appears pretty much complete. Still some work to do on the links at each end.

My guess is they'll get it done by early January so they can sort the drainage works on the old route.

There's going to be a charity fun run and walkabout on the new bridge next week if anyone's interested

Of course, my father and I are already working out the best way to get a look under the bridge rather than on top of it!

Depends how much you want to see - use footbridge on line of old Corris railway and path on south side of river?

Can't get there sadly, hope you get decent weather for it. One of the most important bridges to open in Mid Wales IMV, it needs a lot more positive attention.
