Monthly fly-through update - December 2022. Still no spans in place on the river bridge but, as can be seen, most of the project involves building a viaduct across the flood plain.

Old bridge closed again due to flooding, but the new bridge can clearly be seen to be above the water level:

From last night....it seems the remaining road platforms have been installed, even across the river....though it was nearly dark so I may have been mistaken.
I managed to salvage this .

Here's a link to a You Tube video from 11.02.23 featuring someone walking around the site and including some footage of the bridge beams in place across the Dyfi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYUmLQP ... l=OPAudits

Thanks ......but no thanks... don't like that vid.IAN wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 19:01Here's a link to a You Tube video from 11.02.23 featuring someone walking around the site and including some footage of the bridge beams in place across the Dyfi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYUmLQP ... l=OPAudits
One thing that it does show near the beginning is the total razing of the petrol station and coop supermarket .....nothing is now left standing.
Re: BBC: £24m Dyfi Bridge plans go on show at Machynlleth
It is certainly better to watch it with the sound muted! The demolition of the petrol station and shop actually has nothing to do with the bridge project, simply a rebuild. https://www.countytimes.co.uk/news/2326 ... n-rebuild/AAndy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 19:01Thanks ......but no thanks... don't like that vid.IAN wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 19:01Here's a link to a You Tube video from 11.02.23 featuring someone walking around the site and including some footage of the bridge beams in place across the Dyfi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYUmLQP ... l=OPAudits

First flythrough video two months from the contractors. Shows the bridge beams all in place across the river (all done since December). Safety fencing has been erected along the edges of the viaduct.

Thanks. Perhaps eventually there'll be a video of the beams being placed over the river.

The contractors have uploaded a new fly-through for May a few days after the last one! it does show that some work has been done on surfacing the link to the existing road at the Machynlleth end since the April version.

It also shows the very significant flood defences that are around the railway bridge (which acts like a big sump and floods to 2-3 metres deep) which should help keep the route open in all weathers.
Built for comfort, not speed.
Re: BBC: £24m Dyfi Bridge plans go on show at Machynlleth
That’s interesting, I had wondered why they’d gone to the trouble of building a raised road across the flood plain but leaving the dip under the railway bridge, where major flooding occurs.

A flythrough from July 2023.

It was originally scheduled to be opened by now, the latest update is that it will open this autumn.
The video also shows that the refurbishment of the fuel station by the railway bridge is now nearly complete, the locals will be pleased when they no longer have to make a lengthy detour.

The rebuild of what was Station Garage (Former Austin/BMC/BL/Austin Rover/Rover/MG Rover/Ford dealers) has taken a fair old while and has left members of my family having to go either to Dolgellau or Mallwyd for fuel.IAN wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 15:42 A flythrough from July 2023.
