Off to Orkney for a couple I haven't seen/seen mentioned.

Risk of cross winds and wave action and from further along the causeway:- If you die, don't blame us (It doesn't say this just implies)

You could argue not that rare because there are another set of both of these within a kilometre at the previous causeway, but I don't think I've seen any anywhere else.

Totally unofficial, but with a public service remit. BBC news article on a sign appearing at Wrenbury:-

Shame about the all capitals though.

Clearly NOT done by a traffic management company. I mean four (4!!!) well-filled sandbags? For such a small sign?!!! The expense!!!

The level crossing sign in the background might be quite rare?

And it's probably been there for years into the bargain. If so, it should be long gone by now.

Crossing was upgraded almost a decade ago, so yes - needs removing. Its sister sign "NEW LEVEL CROSSING AHEAD" is probably the incredibly rare one...

Why does "New Crossing Control" even need a sign? I could understand it if the type of crossing had changed, e.g. half barrier to full barrier. But all that's changed is that the barriers are operated automatically rather than by the signaller at the crossing. It's still full-barrier, and the barriers and wig-wags are in the same place, so most people would never notice anything had changed.

I think it can also be to inform road users of the fact that the contact method to the signaller/control centre may have changed as well as the type of crossing.

I've seen quite a few of them in recent years.

It may be to alert the road users that wait times may be different (MCB vs AHB for example) Or that if they try and beat the lights they might now hit a barrier?

Needs a layby where you can pull over and stop to read the sign.

Just saying...

The sign behind it barely legible with stickers "Road normally impassible in wintry conditions"

The original sign was so covered in stickers it wasn't even legible at all.

I passed what I think was a real live “hedgehog” sign yesterday. It’s not on streetview, so I may take a detour tomorrow and take a photo. It’s on the B road out of Blaenavon towards Brymawr.
