This is a decent idea when you've got room for a verge that's at least a car's length wide (obviously useless for buses and trucks) but pretty useless and increases the chances of pedestrians getting squashed by traffic off the main road, as Bryn says.the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:56Move the crossing back from the junction so there's space to wait? Maybe the answer is that crossings aren't permitted UNLESS the sightline is good from before the crossing.

Trying to improve safety for pedestrians at junctions isn't just a city problem - it applies to most junctions (excluding freeflow roads).Bryn666 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 13:23Taking crossings off desire lines mean they aren't used. Plus with buildings you lose intervisibility.the cheesecake man wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:56Move the crossing back from the junction so there's space to wait? Maybe we could just stop designing city centres around cars and start designing for people, like civilised nations are doing.
