Longest continuous run of chevrons?

Post by tom66 »

Did the Scottish road authority get a bulk discount on these?

Strangely enough, none of the other on or off-slips at this junction seem to have any chevrons, so I'm not sure why this was seen as special.

Anyone know of a longer example, without any intervening (deliberately) missing signs?

Not quite as many, but a similar application here.

This one comes to mind. Turns out to not have as many as I thought it did. But you do get two layers.

Aargh. I remember driving on one of those and can't remember where.

Wasn't Shoreham. Check M25/M23, M25/M4, M25/M3...

It's a big junction, probably London/South, has a sidewall of a bend made up of constant chevrons.

Bugging me now that I can't recall it

M1 SB to M25 anticlockwise?

There used to be a "wall" of them here on Eastern Way, but over the years they have fallen off and never been replaced. Now there are just three left.

Maybe?
I seem to remember a yellow trim top and bottom, but I might be mixing memories.

I likewise seem to remember a very long strip of chevrons, I want to say on a concrete wall at a fairly compact by freeflow junction. Again, London or the south east would fit the bill, but again cannot for the life of me think where. The only one I do remember the location of is in the A38 tunnels in Birmingham.

That reminded me of the strand underpass. Checked it. Nothing like as long as I thought.

Most of my London driving the past couple of years that isn't just going up the A3 and allow streets has been journeys where I haven't been able to have the mental bandwidth for "that's interesting, I will store this sabristic detail in my memory for later". Usually it is "Neat. I'll make a mental note of this cool thing" and then I forget it.
Ill remember stuff like "That bit of the A12 has a nasty surface and is surprisingly rough", or "That bend on the A12 is very tight... Yeah, I can see why it's a 50". Not so much "That's a botched sign" or "That is the first time I've seen that sign outside of the know your roadsigns book"

So yeah, either I've been on it recently and forgotten where I saw it, or I saw it years ago.
Or it was up Manchester way and my mind is just saying London.

Either way, frustrating to have that hint of a memory and moreso having some confirmation of it!

Wondering if they have a secondary purpose to block dipped headlights shining onto the roads below

Roundabouts may also be some contenders, but this is the only one I can think of

Here's Hull's version of the Glasgow example, with non-standard chevrons.

These chevrons on the M6 go on for miles. :coat:

I thought you meant chevrons separating streams of traffic in the same direction, and I had just pointed out that was hatching...! Oops, now deleted.

I think those "chevrons" are more checkerboard than chevrons
