Wordy Signs
Took a slightly scenic route to the south coast yesterday, and stopped and had a coffee (and later lunch) in Salisbury. Nice place, interesting and varied architecture.
And one of the most wordy signs I've seen describing the restrictions in the market place. I especially like the part describing the location of Footpath 66

Let it snow.
Re: Wordy Signs
This quite wordy sign existed here for many years. I've mentioned it before. It was first put up when the route ahead was cut off by the construction of the Glasgow Southern Orbital in the early 2000s. I wondered if it would be removed when the GSO was completed, but the dated views on Streetview show it remained until at least 2016.
Re: Wordy Signs
Long winded signs were probably quite common in the distant past:

Rob.
My mission is to travel every road and visit every town, village and hamlet in the British Isles.
I don't like thinking about how badly I am doing.

Makes sense (maybe) to drive slowly if there isn't a road.wrinkly wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 13:47 This quite wordy sign existed here for many years. I've mentioned it before. Re: Wordy Signs
Problem of course is that the road isn't a dead end - just turns left into another road.

SLOW
Road closed ahead
Re: Wordy Signs
They can't even get the right sign - it should be a no motor vehicles sign. The no entry signs would only be lawful if there was an exit.

Re: Wordy Signs
Could they have used a "No through route" and "Through traffic" sign like this? https://www.google.com/maps/@54.6782824 ... ?entry=ttuwrinkly wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 22:54But they could have just saidSummers-lad wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 22:09

Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.

Re: Wordy Signs
That's awful. Surely better with two monolingual signs, one on each side of the road, and use a wider plate on the nearside for the bilingual "Park here and use phone at crossing" sign.
