Widest Road Signs in the UK?

Post by OliverH »

This is A GSV Mistake. But it just got me wondering what some of the widest road signs in the UK are.

The gantry signs spanning the six-lane part of the M25 must be a contender.

I wonder if a long run of chevrons counts?

It's going to be a gantry sign most likely, unless there's a signalised junction that has a stop line running across more than 4 lanes. Or a long 515?

Although I did once see an appallingly badly designed set of signs for an improvement scheme in the midlands somewhere. 25-30 signs on the drawing, the only ones that were right were 3 countdown markers, all the others had "significant room for improvement". There was a verge-mounted roundabout ADS that was somewhere around 12-15m wide as I recall. Pretty sure it wasn't installed.
Patience is not a virtue - it's a concept invented by the dozy beggars who are unable to think quickly enough.

7 lanes and two MS4s. but not sure this would be considered a single sign.
Let it snow.

Yes, but they are just a few smaller signs on one giant grey metal board.
