New A476 to the A48

Does the A476 now meet the A48 south of Cross Hands. The latest OS shows it taking a new route and joining the A48 at a junction further south than it used to although they haven't yet downgraded the old road that meets the A48 at the roundabout at Cross Hands, does anyone have anymore information on this ?

Sometimes it feels like road renumbering is very much not a priority for local authorities - which seems sensible at first as they can feel like a very Sabristic interest - but actually it does help users and cartographers to identify the routes the authority wants people to use. Not to mention providing a nice political boost when a bypass takes the number of the old through route which can be downgraded, perhaps even remodelled to modern standards with walking and cycling prioritised. So surely map makers will pick this one up soon enough.

Signage at the junction where the new road deviates from the old suggests that the number has been transferred to the new route, with the old route downgraded. See here.
