hi, i'm off skiing next week , has anyone here had any experience of driving from Gerona Airport into Andorra?
Looking at the weather forecast, it could be a lively drive, snow chains required over the mountain passes!

There are no motorways, however the CG1 (roads from the southern border with Spain to Andorra la Vella) is dualled on most of the way (or is being).
By 2013, the Spanish "autopista" from Barcelona will come all the way up to the French border (Bourg Madame): the E9 route. On the French side, the E9 (RN20) is now on expressway/motorwat down to Tarascon and should be by Ax les Thermes in 2015.
However, the bit between Ax les Thermes and the Spanish "autopista" is for... well... say... 2020?

you may indeed need snow chains this time of year, however the entrance in from Spain is lower and less prone to freezing than the northern entrance from France.
There also appears to be road construction and new buildings going in everywhere all the time, due to the principality being loaded.....

I have been watching the motorway creep south from Toulouse and was wondering if it will eventually reach Barcelona! The tunnel under the Col de Puymorens, obviously an important part of the route, has been open several years now.By 2013, the Spanish "autopista" from Barcelona will come all the way up to the French border (Bourg Madame): the E9 route. Except for a general lack of gritting! Even on May nights I've had to carefully slide down from the Enlivera, holding the car in 1st gear to avoid slipping into crash barriers or falling off the edge!luchar wrote:But the road goes through Port d'Enlivera (Andorran-French border) through a tunnel, and the E9 is generally nicely taken care of...
