A new dual carriageway is finally getting constructed here in an attempt to end the jams on approach to the A90. Eventually this will run all the way from the Altens roundabout to the existing section of dual carriageway at the junction with the A90.

This is the only one on the road and we're a mile outside the city centre at the Talisman building (visible on approach to Aberdeen, it looks good at night)

This is where the old Aberdeen to Ballater railway crossed. For years it's been a cycle/foot path but required disembarkation onto street level to cross. The city council installed this bridge to allow for free movement on the path, but there's been problems with the fittings on the end (I'm not sure if they're visible but workmen were up there when I took the photo).

Just off Holburn Street, this sign says 'City Centre A92'. It's odd seeing as the A92 ended some 15 odd miles south! A really old relic that's in need of replacing...

Looking East at the junction with Bridge Street. This bit of road crosses the fairly impressive Union Bridge which crosses the B986 and the Inverness railway line.

This shows the road in all its glory along with the railway. This whole area was a railway before rail traffic declined and the city council decided to lump a road in.

This shows the impressive Union Bridge which carries Union Street (and a shopping centre too!) over the valley. The B986 meets up with the Wapping Street - Guild Street gyratory, and eventually this should form part of a major North/South route (this part of the B986 is woefully underused, it's one of the best stretches of road in Aberdeen in my opinion)

This shows a slight height difference between the carriageways. It should be noted that the railway is lower as well (though, the whole valley used to be full of various sidings)

This is the start of the little dual carriageway that runs under Union Street, Aberdeen. The road continues up to another dual carriagway after the roundabout.

The A92 (formerly A90) looking northbound at the Garthdee roundabout, Aberdeen. It's fairly busy going south, and this was taken well before rush hour. I'm still trying to work out what the pole in the middle is for, they erected it a couple of months back but stuck nothing on it! This is where the road becomes dual carriageway for a little bit after the Bridge of Dee.

These bollards are starting to pop up around Aberdeen. This example was found in Springhill Road, between the A93 and A944, but there are more on Springbank Terrace (A93) and no doubt they'll be an everyday sight soon.

This 1983 bridge carries trunk road traffic across the Dee. On the skyline are tenements in Aberdeen's suburb of Torry.
Original bridge dates back to the 1500's
One of (at the time) only 2 public bridges crossing the River Don in Aberdeen. The rural looking scene belies the fact that this is one of the busiest routeways in Aberdeen especially at rush hour with traffic queuing across the bridge.
