Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 23, 2009 by TruveloI like this one for how London N & E is one way and W and S are another. And we are 100 odd miles from the M25 - saves sitting on the 25 for ages.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 24, 2009 by snowman is backWinter 1987. WestBound M42. At this time, the M5 had been widened from Jct 4A to 5 [that project included the southern arms of 4A]. The second widening project was underway between junction 5 to 6. The somewhat 'amusing' northern Jct 4A arms [necessitated by the abandonment of the M42 Northern Link] were included as part of the junction 4 to 4A widening, which started in 1988. Hence, in this photograph [if you are still with me] :- we have the blanked left side to the gantry. .....We didnt get fancy paint jobs on our vehicles in them days !!

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 07, 2007 by leekmanLooking north about 1 mile south of J6. A 60mph limit is showing even though the traffic isn't serious enough to warrant such a limit. I get the impression the limits are set too cautiously resulting in 60mph showing too often.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 28, 2005 by TruveloTypical Friday afternoon madness as traffic using the M42 holds up those wanting to use the M40. Some of those in lane 3 will cut in right at the end which causes queuing like this.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 29, 2007 by TruveloLooking south from the same vantage point. A 60mph limit is showing in this direction as well. The VMS says Gritting in Progress.
