The Folkestone - Calais was a semi-regular ferry that ran to Calais. A Ro/Ro linkspan was built at Folkestone in 1972. With increased competiton from the Dover-Calais route (the port at Dover is able to offer more reliable sailings in worse weather conditions and a shorter journey time to Calais while Boulogne at the time had better rail links to Paris), Sealink transferred all Folkestone operations to Boulogne in June 1984.
