Howford Bridge
Howford Bridge carries the A736 over the White Cart Water in Crookston, south west Glasgow. The road at this point is S4, with two lanes in either direction, but no central reservation even though it is dualled a short distance to the south, and the pavements are wide enough to allow dualling over the bridge. It crosses the river on two skewed spans of metal girders, supporting stone parapets above. The abutments and central pier are of concrete, with bullnosed cutwaters. There is an additional span on the south bank which accommodates a footpath / cycle way, but may have been built as a flood arch. The parapets extend to four matching bays, with slight piers over the abutments and piers below, the northern bays being entirely over land and apparently don't have arches below them.
