Autopista Costanera, Santiago - Coppermine - 22121.jpg
Autopista Costanera, Santiago

Well sort of - the autopista runs along under the river here! And a rare hint of the Andes in the background. They're not usually visible due to the smog.

Avenida Provedencia near Baquedano metro station, Santiago. Chile uses UK style give way markings and these are just visible under the cars waiting on the roundabout. Taken 3rd April 2008.

A very British scene in Chile - Coppermine - 21884.jpg
A very British scene in Chile

A box junction, give way triangle and double dashed lines in central Santiago. This is near Barrio Brasil, where I was staying this time last year. They don't use the single dashed line for entering a side road but the 'ceda el paso' markings are very familiar.

Rest Area, Ruta 5, North of Puerto Montt, Chile

In addition to the modern service stations along Ruta 5 there are rest areas with toilets, picnic tables and even a playground for the kids. This one is a couple of hours north of Puerto Montt.

Santiago: Avenida Andrés Bello and the Hidden Autopista

Looking east along Avenida Andrés Bello near Bellavista. The Costanera Autopista runs under the river along this section. Pretty Impressive!
