Cockermouth
Mayo Statue, Main Street, Cockermouth The marble statue sits in the middle of Main Street in honour of Earl Mayo who was Cockermouth's MP for 10 years from 1857. He was appointed to the post of Viceroy to India in 1869 where he served until he was stabbed to death in the Andaman Islands in 1872.
The Black Bull, Cockermouth Note the astonishingly high flood marker on the wall of this Main Street pub, recalling the unprecedented event of November 2009 when this part of the town was flooded to a depth of 2.5 metres.
Entrance to the Lakeland Agricultural Business Centre On the A66 south of Cockermouth. It is a distinctive landmark, but the sheep also makes me think of Old Testament idols.
