The A333 Portsmouth Road. Once a busy trunk road, now a significant, but more minor, local route
The A333 is the former section of the A3 in Hindhead from Hazel Grove Interchange to the Hindhead Crossroads that was bypassed with the Hindhead Tunnel scheme in July 2011.
The road starts at a dumbbell GSJ to the south of Hindhead and runs northeastwards into town. It meets the B3002 to Borden at a roundabout before ending at the former bottleneck Hindhead Crossroads, now a double mini-roundabout, on the A287. The former A3 ahead now leads to the National Trust car park and no further: the road past the Devil's Punchbowl has been returned to nature. Some maps claim this is also part of the A333.
