B7019

Larkhall

The B7019 is a link road east of the Lanarkshire town of Larkhall. It was originally unclassified but had gained its number by 1932.

The route starts at traffic lights on the A71 in the small village of Shawsburn and heads northwest along Burnhead Road. After passing a handful of properties set between woodland and small fields, the route passes over the M74 without a junction to enter the suburbs of Larkhall. Almost immediately, a mini-roundabout gives access to the sprawling housing estates on the left, while a golf course lies on the right. The traffic-calmed Burnhead Road has few houses facing onto it at first, the new estates all backing on to the main road. It's not long, however, before the road is lined with houses on both sides. These are predominantly small, single storey, stone built cottages, most of which are semi detached and have had loft conversions. The road then drops down a noticeable, if short hill, to cross the small Skelly Gill, beyond which there are some small groups of newer houses here and there, mostly on the left hand side.

The B7019 avoids the town centre to the west, but continues in the same north westerly direction as Drygate Street, across a mini roundabout and past a handful of shops. Traffic lights have then replaced a second mini roundabout at a crossroads, with the B7019 continuing ahead along Hamilton Street. This is much more suburban in character, with larger detached houses set back in large gardens, and a few modern properties squeezed into those gardens here and there. The route then comes to its end on the B7078 (former A74) on the northern side of town. The junction is a skewed, signalised crossroads immediately to the east of the railway.
