The B9026 connects the harbour and A98 at Macduff in Banffshire to the A947 south of the town. The route is unchanged from its original classification in 1922.
Starting on the A98 Shore Street, right opposite the bustling harbour, the route climbs away from the coast along Duff Street, which starts off lined with shops (some of which are empty) but soon becomes residential. Presently the gradient eases, and the old stone houses give way to newer housing as Duff Street bears sharply round to the right. This is the only bend on the whole route, so another long straight follows, still climbing a little before passing the school and descending gently out of town. The modern housing estates have been built to back onto the B9026, so hedges and garden fences line the road as it leaves town. After crossing a couple of fields, one home to the new sports centre, the route ends at a T junction by the cemetery on the A947.
