The Leacainn Forest Drive was a forest drive through East Loch Awe Forest.
Initially a haul road, when it became a through road, it was promoted as a forest drive to encourage tourism. While it was still simply a haul road, Argyll and Bute Council agreed to convert it from a paved road into a gravel road, in order to save on maintenance costs. This turned out to not be the case - as the promotion of the route encouraged more cars onto the road that were not expecting gravel, and thus needed the gravel surface to be high quality: something very expensive given the traffic levels. The road was re-tarmaced and ceased being considered a forest drive.
