Duneatonfoot Bridge carries the A702 across the Duneaton Water a little to the north of Abington in upper Clydesdale. Until the motorway was opened through Abington in the 1990s, this route was numbered as the A73, a useless multiplex, however with the opening of the motorway, a single number was provided for the route north to Edinburgh. The current bridge is a rather ordinary single span girder bridge carrying a concrete deck with two traffic lanes and wide pavements between metal barriers as parapets. It replaces an older span which stood immediately upstream, although little remains. The lower courses of the stone abutments can be seen in the grass on the river banks, and the general line of the old road can be traced, but that is all.
