New Bridge carries the B762 across the White Cart Water in Cathcart. It was built in 1901 to replace an older, hump-backed stone bridge which dated from 1800. The bridge has a single stone arch with a wide, shallow span built from ashlar red granite. The arch ring is pronounced, and spans between shallow piers on the abutment faces. These rise up to form substantial piers in the parapet, with another over the centre of the arch, the centre ones topped with a cast iron lamp post. Between these, stone balusters span to form the parapets. The roadway is a wide single carriageway between wide pavements. It is lined as an S4, although there is a bus stop on the southbound side.
