Merlin's Bridge roundabout, on the A4076's southern approach to Haverfordwest, marks the point where that road diverges from its former route into the town to follow a skirting course around the southeastern side of the main built-up area along Freemens Way to Salutation Square. The old road continues up Merlin's Hill (now a part of the A487, although not signed as such on the ground) towards the town centre.
