For the roundabout in County Tipperary, see New Inn Road Roundabout.
New Inn Roundabout is the junction between the A91, the A912 and the A914 at Muirhead, Fife. It marks the northern end of the dual carriageway sections of the A92 which run from the A90 past Kirkcaldy and then, with a short interruption, through Glenrothes. The A92 continues north, working its way across Fife to reach the Tay Road Bridge. The other two routes also fan out to head north, the A912 running north west to Falkland and on to Perth, while the A914 heads north east through Cupar to rejoin the A92 just south of the Tay. Indeed, until the 1990s the A92 and A914 followed each others routes.
History
There has been a roundabout here since the A92 to the south was dualled in the later 1960s, prior to that the junction formed a staggered fork, with the A912 meeting the A92 ever so slightly to the south of the A914, which still joins roughly at the original point. When first classified, however, the road to the north was not the A92, nor even the A914, but the B937, although it was renumbered as the A914 in c1935.
