The B1322 is a semi-rural B-road on the edge of the Tyneside conurbation.
It starts on the A191 on the southern edge of Shiremoor and heads north along New York Road (there is a village just to the east called New York) into the centre of town. It crosses the pre-bypass A186 at a roundabout before going over the metro line and reaching the A186 bypass at another roundabout.
The B1322 continues north into Backworth where it turns sharply west. After passing the end of the B1317 it gets to within a few yards of the A19 and indeed is connected to this road via a diamond interchange and the A1056. Heading north once more, the B1322 enters Seghill where it ends on the A190.
