Allanton Roundabout lies at the northern end of the Castle Douglas bypass on the A75. It is a three arm junction at quite a sharp fork, where the A745 has been extended along the former A75 route from the town centre. The two southern arms of the junction have single approach and departure lanes, but the northern arm of the A75 has two departure lanes leading on to a climbing lane up the hill. The roundabout was built as part of the bypass which opened in 1988.
