There are two junctions in quick succession on the A84 at Blair Drummond to the south of Doune. There is also a crossroads junction further east which provides access to the Blair Drummond Safari park, although that junction does not seem to have a widely used name. The scattered settlement of Blair Drummond has no real core, but is loosely centred on this pair of junctions, with Blair Drummond House to the east and Blair Drummond Moss to the south.
When heading west from Stirling, the first junction is the left turn for the B8075 to Gargunnock. This is a simple T junction, with a left turn filter lane and a central right turn lane on the A84. A very short distance further west, the slip lane onto the A873 forks off to the left. This is the old line of the A84, which is now closed up beyond the A873 as property access. The A84 has been realigned a little to the north east, replacing the old fork with a sweeping bend. The A873 now turns from the old junction point to meet the new A84 line at right angles, and so give the best visibility. However, despite all of these changes, there is no right turn lane on the A84, so turning traffic can cause hold ups. Fortunately, it is not a common movement, with the B826 further north providing a more direct route between Doune and Thornhill.
