Greyhound Island is a simple roundabout on the A580 East Lancashire Road. It is located in the hamlet of Lately Common, at the South-Eastern end of the town of Leigh, in the borough of Wigan. It is named after the hotel and former pub on its North-West corner.
The roundabout is relatively small for the amount of traffic it carries, not signalised, and only has two lanes per side per direction on the East Lancs, which leads to congestion at peak times. It is practically identical to Golborne Island further west down the A580, which suffers from the same issue. Buses between Warrington and Leigh are often seen following the A574 through this roundabout. The speed limit through this roundabout is 60mph.
