George Duckworth Island is a dogbone roundabout on the A574 Birchwood Way. It is located in the new town suburb of Birchwood, at the North-Eastern end of Warrington. The downward gradient of Birchwood Way entering the junction suggests that this was originally planned with the potential to upgrade to a grade-separated dogbone interchange
The mainline of the A574 TOTSOs at this junction to head from the West to the North. Continuing East, Birchwood Way becomes is a spur of the route, terminating at the Birchwood Interchange.
The roundabout is signalised on two of its corners where the A574 joins with an extra turning lane. The South-West corner has a bypass lane, to improve traffic flow from Birchwood Mall and centre towards Warrington town. The roundabout is also fairly unique, in that all four of the joining roads are dual carriageways.
