Junction 7 of the M77 allows traffic from the village of Fenwick to join the motorway, as well as southbound traffic on the motorway to go to the village. Access from the south is provided at junction 8. Although this stretch of M77 was only opened in 2005, part of the underbridge carrying the M77 over the B778 is from 1932 according to wrinkly on SABRE as this stretch of M77 was widened online from the 1932 S2 version of the A77. This also means that this underbridge is partially older than any other motorway underbridge in Britain. The next oldest motorway underbridges are Barton High Level Bridge for the M60 and those on the M6 Preston Bypass which were under construction in 1956-1958.
