The name of this Junction / Bridge may not be accurate because
name describes where the junction is - construction materials refer to a Dromore Underpass; probably locally referred to as Hillsborough Road junction; not sure what the official name is
This junction at Dromore is where Hillsborough Road (the B2) meets the A1 Dromore Bypass.
When the bypass was built, the junction was at-grade. However, a significant secondary traffic flow at the junction is traffic leaving Dromore wanting to travel north of the A1. As such, the junction suffered from a higher than average accident rate as a result of the joining traffic crossing the main carriageway. In 2005, Roads Minister Shaun Woodward opened a £3.3m improvement scheme which provided an underpass and closed the gap in the central reservation[1].
