The A6464 is a short Class I road linking the A6005 to the A52, skirting the north-eastern side of Beeston and the south-western edge of the University of Nottingham campus. D2 and pleasantly tree-lined throughout, the road carries a 30 limit, reduced from 40 in 2014, with speed cameras on both carriageways. The road used to be part of the B6464, hence its current number, which it gained when reclassified in the 1980s.
Starting at a light-controlled junction with the A6005 (former A453), the road quickly meets the B6464 leading to/from Beeston town centre and the west entrance of the university at roundabout before continuing uneventfully towards its terminus at a second roundabout on the A52 by the Priory inn (now a Toby carvery).
The onward route (unclassified) continues through Wollaton to reach the Balloon Woods junction where the A609 crosses the A6002.
History
The DfT road lists of c2002 claims that the A6464 also included University Boulevard, now part of the A6005 (and formerly the A453). No other evidence has been found to support this, however, so it could be an error in the list.
