This article is about the Class III road numbered C242 maintained by Northumberland Council.
For other roads numbered C242, see C242.
For other roads numbered C242, see C242.
The C242 runs from Bridge End just north of Hexham to Corbridge. Although the road lies in the shadow of the A69 for its entire length it has never been part of the A69, the original alignment of the main road being on the south side of the River Tyne at this point. The road starts on the A6079 north of Hexham and ends on the B6529 in Corbridge and crosses, without meeting, the A69 twice along its journey.
