Winwick Park Roundabout is a two-lane, 40mph, fully signalised roundabout on the A49. It plays a major role in linking up the village of Winwick in the borough of Warrington.

It is the westerly terminus of the Winwick Link Road, an NSL dual carriageway linking Warrington's traffic to the Winwick Interchange and M6. It is officially an A49 spur, and effectively the southernmost stretch of the A579. It is also seen by many, especially HGVs, as a shortcut from the M6 southbound to the M62 westbound (and vice versa), bypassing a tight 270 degree loop in the Croft Interchange, much to the chagrin of the residents of Winwick on Myddleton Lane.

It also serves to link traffic from the small town of Newton-le-Willows to Warrington and the M62 at Stump Cross via a short stretch of mainline A49 dual carriageway named Newton Road to the south of the roundabout.

To the North, Newton Road (mainline A49) continues as a single carriageway to - you guessed it - Newton-le-Willows. Only a short distance up is a poorly designed give-way junction serving the A573 (Golborne Road) towards Golborne, and the centre of Winwick village. Weirdly, further along Newton Road, there is a fairly well-designed traffic light junction for the tertiary Hollins Lane, serving a few houses, Hollins Park psychiatric hospital (the small successor to Winwick Park asylum), and a couple of miles along, the village of Burtonwood. This calls into question why the A573 doesn't deserve such junction quality - perhaps simply the poor visibility from Hollins Lane onto the A49 demanded such a measure.

To the west of the roundabout is the former site of the Winwick Park asylum, which was demolished in the 1990s to make way for a housing estate - perhaps the largest residential area of Winwick.
