Burtonwood Roundabout is junction 8 of the M62.
When it was constructed in 2003, links to Burtonwood Road to the north and south were built, along with Charon Way to the South-East and Limekiln Roundabout to the north. Provision was made for Skyline Drive to the South-West, which was added later.
Additionally, it took over the slip road onto Burtonwood Services, which was then the Northern (Eastbound) side, however the Southern (Westbound) half was demolished around 2010).
In 2017 work on the roundabout commenced to move the exit of Charon Way onto a signal controlled junction on Burtonwood Road, South of the main junction. At the same time additional stacking space was added to the approaches to the roundabout and also additional traffic lanes to the circulatory carriageway. That year, OS Mapping began showing 3 A-roads at the junction: the A5280 (Skyline Drive), A5281 (Burtonwood Road to the south) and A5282 (Charon Way).
