Glenlochar Bridge spans the River Dee with six stone arches, each of identical size. This means that unlike many bridges of its era, the roadway is carried level across the river without any hump. The main channel of the river flows close to the east bank meaning that the three western arches are little more than flood arches spanning a series of shingle and grassy islets in the river. The cutwaters are unusual in being semi-circular in plan and rise up to the arch springs, with blind occuli in the spandrels above.
