Dumfries and Galloway Council

Dumfries and Galloway Council is the Highway Authority for all public roads in its area other than those managed by Transport Scotland. The Council serves the three historic counties of Dumfriesshire and the Galloway Counties of Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire. As of 2016, Government Statistics say that the council is responsible for 311.3 miles of A roads; 455.1 miles of B roads and 1967.5 miles of other roads. There is an additional 174.1 miles of Trunk roads and 37.5 miles of Motorway within the council area, which are maintained by Transport Scotland.
