The Low Bridge of Tarff carries a minor road across the River Tarff just before it flows into the Dee Estuary near Tongland. It is a single span stone arch structure believed to date back to the late 18th Century, although very little information on its history seems to be available. It carries a narrow single track roadway, which winds across the approaches that are built up above the surrounding marshland which, if not exactly tidal, can flood when the rivers are in spate. The road is humped over the arch and widens on either side as the parapets step out onto wide buttressed abutments. These wing walls then extend some distance beyond the actual bridge, winding round corners with the road.
