Orbiston Interchange marks the southern end of the A725 Bellshill Bypass, where it meets the B7070, which follows the pre-bypass route through the town. The junction is a slightly modified trumpet, where the two offslips meet before reaching the roundabout on the B7070. The northbound onslip also starts at this roundabout, with an S2 carriageway then passing under the Bypass before splitting. The southbound onslip, however, is accessed a short distance to the south along Hamilton Road from a second roundabout, which also serves the housing estate to the south east. The junction was original to the bypass, which opened in 1968, although both roundabouts have been added since, the original meeting point being a fork type junction. The addition of the roundabouts is almost certainly related to the growth of the surrounding housing developments.
