Pendleton Roundabout forms the southern terminus of the Clitheroe Bypass section of the A59. Originally this was a simple t-junction with a short dual-carriageway either side of it. In the early 1990s it was converted to a roundabout and the dual sections either side were extended to improve traffic flow.
Later on in the late 1990s the dual carriageway was extended along the entirety of the A59/A671 multiplex.
