Gargrave Road Roundabout[1] is the major junction on the Skipton Bypass, at one end of the multiplex of the A59 and A65 roads.
The original proposal was for a roundabout interchange with provision for future grade separation between the A629 and A65 west. The A629 at this time was planned as a dual carriageway extension of the M650. By the time the Skipton Bypass opened in 1981 the M650 proposals had been watered down and all the roads approaching the junction were built to single carriageway standards.
